Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Ft. Myers, FL

Description

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients to examination rooms. Obtain and record vitals and patient history into Centricity
  • Presents patient history summary and alerts provider to provider related to changes in patient medical standing
  • Assist provider with charting and documentation in company's EMR to include posting charges, billing and diagnosis codes, etc.
  • Assist in writing prescriptions and clinical orders (i.e. physical therapy, MRI, and CTs)
  • Access Epic/RRC/EMR systems to pull imaging when necessary
  • Ensure proper documentation in chart/EMR the day of visit (.i.e. current MRI report and image, labs, EMG/NCV, post-surgery report, etc.)
  • Assist with splinting/casting, cast removal, suture and staple removal, fitting and dispensing DMEs
  • Assist with sterile procedures (i.e. injections, radio frequency, and spinal cord stimulator trials)
  • Counsels patients in the office and on the phone concerning physician's orders, medication, and/or questions concerning surgery
  • Stock and clean exam rooms
  • Perform work related duties as required and other tasks as assigned
  • Maintain strictest confidentially in accordance with HIPPA compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of ICD-9 diagnostic coding and CPT procedure codes
  • Maintain knowledge of operation and maintenance of clinical equipment, drugs, and supplies

Requirements

Education:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certificate/Licensure: Active Medical Assistant Certification required

Skills:

  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Understanding of anatomy and physiology
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Knowledge of medical diagnosis preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Must be a team player
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in busy and/or stressful situations

Physical requirements:

  • Requires frequent and often repetitive bending, reaching, lifting, walking, squatting, pushing and sitting
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
